About the Rhode Island Fruit Growers Association
For over a century, the Rhode Island Fruit Growers Association (RIFGA) has united local farmers who share a passion for cultivating high-quality fruit on the rich, scenic farmlands of our state. What began in 1913 with a group of dedicated apple growers in Providence and Kent Counties has blossomed into a statewide community of over 30 farms producing a diverse array of fruit, from apples and peaches to blueberries and beyond.
RIFGA members benefit from decades of shared knowledge as well as ongoing collaboration with experts from the University of Rhode Island and UMass Cooperative Extensions. These partnerships provide vital research and hands-on fieldwork that help our farmers grow healthier, more flavorful fruit while caring for the land that sustains us.
We’re proud to preserve Rhode Island’s agricultural heritage and connect more people to the experience of local fruit farming. Whether you’re a lifelong grower, a backyard orchardist, or simply someone who loves fresh, local fruit—there’s a place for you in the Rhode Island Fruit Growers Association.
Get Involved
You don’t have to be a farmer to be part of RIFGA. We welcome fruit lovers, hobby growers, and advocates for local agriculture to join our growing community. Together, we’re keeping Rhode Island’s fruit-growing tradition strong for generations to come.
